More Than Golf 2026 – What will Finland look like in 2086?
Our ‘More Than Golf’ customer event was held for the fourth time, this time with the theme ‘Back to the Future’, to celebrate More Than Strategy Oy: its first year of operation. 36 players and 10 organisers/partners gathered for a shotgun start on a warm August morning at Kytäjä Golf North West-course. The format for the day was a scramble (team), and special competitions organised by our clients were also held on a total of five different holes.
The ‘Scramble’ format ensures that players, regardless of their skill level, can play from the same tee, and the game naturally progresses towards a shared goal. At our event, most of the players on each team do not know each other beforehand, but the positive and encouraging atmosphere creates an environment where, right from the first hole, everyone plays together, pulling in the same direction. This is a microcosm of what teamwork in the workplace is at its best.
What is the aim of More Than Golf?
Our annual event is built around a strong theme, allowing our clients and partners to share moments of success and insight together. For the event to be a success, it is important that our clients and partners take centre stage and that everyone has the opportunity to network and showcase their services to one another.
The theme for 2026 was a journey through time into the future, all the way to the year 2086. The players were divided into three time machines (Visionaries, Futurists & Strategists), whose aim was to play as a team in a Scramble format to achieve a score of -12 below the course’s par (-12 = 60 years into the future).
The teams were made up of players of varying abilities, and our guests included some of the most promising talents in amateur golf, such as the player who has achieved international success this season Lauri Rosendahl! 🔥
We also managed to interview Lauria at the end of the event – Watch the video interview here.
With Lauri’s support, the Visionaries travelled to the year 2096 (-14), the Futurists ended up in the year 2086 (-12) and the Strategists in the year 2081 (-11).
And so it was this year too that we achieved our shared goal at our event and, together, enjoyed lunch in the year 2086.
We don’t need certainty about the future to make better decisions
The Back to the Future game ended with a lunch attended by the managing director of More Than Strategy Sointu Kouki took us to the year 2086 and gave us a more detailed insight strategic foresight as a tool for analysing developments in the operating environment.
The key message of the speech was that there are thousands of possible futures, only one of which will come to pass. Of course, it may well be that the question ”What is Finland like?” will seem outdated in 2086. However, we do not need certainty about the future in order to make better decisions today.
The 2027 ‘More Than Golf’ event is already in the planning stages!
Next year’s More Than Golf will take place on the last Friday in August (27 August 2027) at Kytäjä Golf. The theme of the event is a closely guarded secret and will be revealed, as is tradition, at the turn of the year.
