Case: Finnish Basketball Association - DiSC profiles and joint review

The Finnish Basketball Association is the umbrella organisation for Finnish basketball. It acts as a federation of associations that organise basketball in Finland and represents its members in the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). The Finnish Basketball Federation is made up of around 250 basketball clubs.

”In our close-knit basketball family working community, it's good to stop and reflect on ourselves and our own activities in the team,” says Kati Packalén, CEO of the Basketball Association, describing the starting point of the cooperation. ”The work community survey has shown that people in our team see and experience things differently. Our aim in working together was to use this work to better understand each other and why things are perceived differently.”

More Than Group carried out DiSC personality analyses and a joint review for the team at the Basketball Federation's office. Although it is difficult to assess the direct concrete results of the collaboration at this stage, Kati believes that the work done will facilitate the team's future cooperation. ”Our working community is already strong from the outset - we are all basketball fans at heart, and we have a passion for what we are working on. But in the big picture, I believe that through this work we will begin to understand ourselves and each other better as a team. When situations arise where you get frustrated with what someone else is doing or have unpleasant thoughts about it, you are able to recall how differences in thinking and actions between us can be at the root of it.”

Kati thanks More Than Group for a positive experience in building a tailor-made, suitable solution for them. ”Even at the point of sale, I got the feeling that the process was on our terms, and that you wanted to find a solution that would genuinely fit our situation and help us. All in all, the overall approach was very customer-oriented.”

Usually organisations seek help when the situation is already inflamed. However, the best time to start developing cooperation is when things are good. This kind of work helps to see potential future challenges before they surface,” Kati sums up.
